Chief Revenue Officer and President – Maryland/Pennsylvania Operations
John joined Keller Stonebraker Insurance Insurance in 2011 and became a partner and agency principal in 2013. He was named president in 2018. After a strategic merger between Keller Stonebraker Insurance, Dyer Group and Jim Lively Insurance in 2021, John was named Chief Revenue Officer and President – Maryland and Pennsylvania Operations.
John began his insurance career after college, spending five years with another Hagerstown agency. After many years as a volunteer first responder, John transitioned careers in 2001 to the professional fire/rescue service. He spent seven years serving his community, first with the Hagerstown Fire Department before being promoted to Director of Fire and Emergency Services for Washington County. John also served nine years as an adjunct instructor for the University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. For 17 years, John participated in various roles within his family’s construction company, including full time involvement from 2008 to 2011. John credits his background as the best preparation for returning to the insurance industry. His experience in business and government affords him a unique perspective with both agency leadership and client support.
John is active in the community as a Rotarian, church deacon and serves on numerous boards, including the Washington County Industrial Foundation and Greater Hagerstown Committee. He also served previously as chief of Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company and board chairman of the Hagerstown Rotary Club, Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Washington County.
John received a bachelor’s degree from Emory and Henry College in Virginia and holds his Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Risk Manager designations. John is also a graduate of Leadership Washington County.
He and his wife, Cassandra, live in Hagerstown with their son, Austin.
